Toledo Community Foundation Awards Grants Totaling $216,646 to Nine Nonprofit Organizations

The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded grants totaling $216,646 from its Community Funds to nine nonprofit organizations.

Grants from the Foundation’s unrestricted funds (aka Community Funds) are considered two times annually, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals is January 15, 2017. Toledo Community Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in northwest Ohio, committed to building healthy communities and promoting the responsible stewardship of resources.

Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:

Aurora Project, Inc. – was awarded $22,500 through the Community Funds Accelerator program to engage in a continuous improvement project to streamline operations.

Council of Michigan Foundations – was awarded $5,000 to support the Great Lakes Funders Collaboration.

East Toledo Family Center – was awarded $30,240 through the Community Funds Accelerator program to evaluate the Ready, Set, Let’s Read early literacy intervention in partnership with The University of Toledo Speech-Language Pathology Program.

Foundation Center – was awarded $3,500 to support programming in northwest Ohio.

Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio – was awarded $36,461 through the Community Funds Accelerator program to complete a comprehensive evaluation of the patient services program, with the assistance of The University of Toledo’s Center for Health and Successful Living.

Partners in Education – was awarded $16,765 through the Community Funds Accelerator program to conduct an evaluation of the College and Career Coach program.

Toledo Public Schools – was awarded $4,600 to support a new afterschool theatre arts program delivered in partnership with Children’s Theatre Workshop.

The University of Toledo Foundation – was awarded $75,000 to support the development of a new coordinated service delivery model for victims of human trafficking in northwest Ohio.

Toledo Zoological Society – was awarded $18,260 to expand the Play Naturally Toledo program, a collaborative project of the Toledo Zoo, Metroparks Toledo, the 577 Foundation and Mosaic Ministries. The organization was also awarded a grant of $4,320 to support the evaluation of Play Naturally Toledo through the Community Funds Accelerator program.
