The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that Ms. Masyn Eckhart from Central Catholic High School is the recipient of a $1,500 Buckeye Broadband/TV One Scholarship. This scholarship provides an annual, one-time award for graduating high school students of African American heritage who are permanent residents of Buckeye Broadband's Toledo service area to attend an accredited post-secondary institution of their choice.

Ms. Eckhart graduated from Central Catholic High School, and will attend Ohio University this fall, where she will focus on Pediatric Physical Therapy.

Active throughout her high school years, Ms. Eckhart was involved in National Honor Society, Sideline Spirit, Respect for Life Club, Irish Service Corp, Student-Athlete Advisory Council and Centripetal. Her community service activities include volunteering for various organizations including Catholic Youth Organization, Cherry Street Mission Ministries, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and The Miracle League.

This Scholarship was established by Buckeye Broadband and TV One, a cable television network targeting primarily African American adults with a broad range of lifestyle and entertainment-oriented programming. TV One is available on Buckeye Broadband’s digital channel 186 and high-definition channel 680. Buckeye Broadband serves more than 120,000 customers in the greater Toledo area, offering 300 digital, high-definition, and analog channels of entertainment and information, as well as video on demand. The locally owned firm also offers Buckeye Phone, residential telephone service, and Buckeye Express high-speed Internet access.

Application for the Buckeye Broadband/TV One Scholarship of the Toledo Community Foundation is administered online at www.toledocf.org. Scholarship applicants are required to have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and submit an essay addressing their career goals and how education/studies beyond high school will contribute to those goals. Applications for the 2018-2019 academic year will be available on or about November 1. Scholarship awards are announced in April.
